British alleged fake tradies arrested
A group of British “travelling con men” have been arrested and two men charged after allegedly duping customers while offering to do maintenance and repair work .
Police have warned residents to be on alert for fake tradies, who doorknock or letter-drop homes and businesses offering services such as roof cleaning and tiling, painting, or tree lopping, after the group were arrested in Beaumaris last week.
A 61-year-old British man was arrested on Friday after he allegedly obtained $30,000 in payments after falsely telling the victim he had been fined for removing asbestos on their property in Beaumaris.
