Asbestos dumpers risk $130k fine as council investigates
NOOSA Council is investigating after specialist removers were called to the fourth load of illegally-dumped asbestos in the region this month.
Adios Asbestos has removed about a tonne of asbestos each from Bakers Rd, Jampot Creek Rd and Falls Creek Rd. Combined with a large pile of asbestos removed last week from Western Branch Rd, that’s in excess of four tonnes of hazardous material dumped beside local roads, according to the council.
“This is the most asbestos and asbestos-contaminated material we have ever come across in a local council kerbside collection program in recent history,” Adios Asbestos owner Carlos Baptista said.
